Advanced Training Class - YKP Archaeology and Field Techniques

This Lost Pines Master Naturalist advanced training class meets quarterly at Yegua Knobbs Preserve, led by PPLT Board Member and professional archaeologist, Cristin Embree. Contact Cristin or LPMN for session dates and more info. embree.cristin@gmail.com

The lecture will cover introduction to Texas archaeology, get people familiar with doing avocation archaeology, survey techniques, ethics, why recording sites in needed and how it will help PPLT and an overview of YPK land history and expected resources.

The field class will include:

  • 12 people max each session field. 
  • Half of each field session will be training hours the other half will be survey and site recording (volunteer hours). 
  • Overall, to get folks already "in the field" able to identify, record sites, provide a baseline at YKP and monitor sites.
